Kharg Island: Iran's Energy Export Powerhouse Still Operational
Despite geopolitical tensions, the massive crude oil export terminal on Kharg Island remains fully functional, serving as Iran's primary gateway for crude exports to global markets. This aerial view, taken from a helicopter, captures the scale of the hub (Image 0). Numerous supertankers and other vessels are visible moored along the lengthy jetties, which extend directly from the island's storage facilities. Tugboats maneuver around the massive ships, facilitating their loading and departure. Kharg Island, located in the northern Persian Gulf (Image 2), has long been a critical component of Iran's energy infrastructure and continues to manage the vast majority of the country's oil exports.
